Five hurt in I-65 wreck

Times Staff Report

Five people were hurt in an early-morning wreck on Interstate 65 in Barren County.

One person was flown by STATCARE to University of Louisville Hospital; two were transported by Barren-Metcalfe Ambulance Service to T.J. Samson Community Hospital; and two were taken to The Medical Center at Bowling Green by the Edmonson County Ambulance Service.

Kentucky State Police investigated the wreck, but no names had been released at presstime.

The accident apparently happened when two northbound vehicles - a van and a SUV - sideswiped each other, causing the van to lose control, overturn and land in the median.

The accident happened at the 45 mile marker, about halfway between the Park City and Glasgow exits. Traffic was backed up to the Glasgow exit ramp at the Louie B. Nunn Parkway.
